01After a tooth extraction
  1. Bite on the gauze for 30 minutes.
  2. No rinsing, spitting or straws for 24 hours.
  3. Cold, soft food for the first day.
  4. Warm salt-water rinses from day two.
  5. Call us if bleeding continues after a few hours.
02After teeth whitening
  1. Avoid tea, coffee, red wine and turmeric for 48 hours.
  2. Use a sensitivity toothpaste if teeth feel tender.
  3. Skip smoking — it undoes results quickly.
  4. Top up with your trays as advised.
03After root canal treatment
  1. Wait until numbness wears off before eating.
  2. Expect tenderness for one to three days.
  3. Avoid chewing hard food on that side until your crown is fitted.
  4. Keep your crown appointment — it protects the tooth.
04Living with braces
  1. Brush after every meal with an orthodontic brush.
  2. Avoid hard and sticky foods — nuts, toffees, corn on the cob.
  3. Use wax on anything that rubs.
  4. Call us if a wire pokes or a bracket comes loose.
05Caring for implants
  1. Clean around implants like natural teeth, twice a day.
  2. Use interdental brushes or a water flosser daily.
  3. Keep six-monthly hygiene visits.
